When a storm is approaching and there is nothing you can do to stop it, wisdom demands preparation. You do not stand before the clouds shouting in denial, hoping they disappear. You prepare for what is ahead. Assurance of coming out is guaranteed by you preparing before the storm.
Noah: The Wisdom of Obedience
When God warned Noah that a flood would wipe out humanity because of its wickedness, Noah did not waste time arguing, doubting, or trying to pray against what God had already declared. He simply obeyed.
Day after day, while others mocked him, Noah built the ark, gathered supplies, and followed every instruction God gave him. When the flood finally came, preparation became the difference between preservation and destruction Genesis 7:1.
Noah survived not because the storm was avoided, but because he was prepared.

Lot: The Danger of Delay
The same pattern appeared again in Sodom and Gomorrah. Before judgment fell upon the cities, God sent angels to lead Lot and his family to safety. There was an escape route, but it required immediate response and separation.
Had Lot remained behind or delayed his response, he would have perished with everyone else. Those who ignored the warning or hesitated were consumed with the city.
Across Scripture, God consistently reveals this truth: when warnings are given, wisdom responds quickly with preparation.
The Virgins: The Missing Oil
This same lesson appears in the parable of the ten virgins. All ten carried lamps and all were waiting for the bridegroom, but only five carried extra oil Matthew 25:3–4.
The foolish virgins were not called foolish because they lacked lamps, but because they lacked preparation despite having enough information. They prepared for the moment, but not for delay.
What happens if the bridegroom tarries longer than expected? Will your lamp still be burning?
This remains a personal question every believer must answer.
The Call to Preparedness
Life does not only reward expectation; it rewards preparation. God is not moved by panic in the moment, but by obedience before the moment.
The wise believer does not wait for emergencies to prepare. He prepares before the storm arrives. Stay ready, stay obedient, and keep your lamp burning.
